Fissure sealing

Sealing fissures and grooves on teeth surfaces is a prophylactic measure against caries in teeth with deep grooves. The accumulation of substances that trigger caries in these regions, which are difficult to access for the toothbrush, can be prevented in this way. Fissure sealing plays an important role, especially during childhood and adolescence. Once the permanent posterior teeth come through (this usually starts with the 6-year molar in the lower jaw), fissure sealing should be considered.

Process of fissure sealing

After thorough cleaning of the tooth, a low-viscosity composite is applied in a film-like coating and hardened using light. The process of fissure sealing is completely painless.
